I visited Mount Olive High School in Northern New Jersey, and was made an honorary member of the MiniMORT Robotics Team. I
learned a lot about FIRST – it stands for “For Inspiration
and Recognition of Science and Technology”. Its goal is to create a world where science and technology are celebrated and where
young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes. They create games that combine the excitement of sports with science and
technology. FIRST has four levels of competition starting with Junior FIRST Lego League (JFLL) for 6 to 9 year olds, then FIRST Lego League (FLL) for
9 to 14 year olds. The older students have bigger robots to build too.
They even gave me a team shirt. Green was the team shirt last year and the only one they had left in my size. Here are my new team-mates at MiniMORT.
